Systems Engineering Management Concentration

Course Content and Application

This concentration provides specialized course work for qualified students who wish to prepare for managerial responsibilities in organizations engaged in the development and maintenance of complex technology-based systems. This concentration is comprised of four courses. The Systems Engineering Process examines the logical process of technical and administrative activities required throughout the lifecycle of large, complex systems, with the aim of applying integration/systems engineering support in a cost effective manner. Applied Systems Engineering addresses the application of system modeling, design, and analysis tools in the engineering development and maintenance of complex systems. Operations Research or Management Science addresses the phases of problem identification, model building, and analytical methods of decision making--including computer models for resource allocation, transportation, assignment, network planning and scheduling, waiting line analysis, and simulation. Engineering Program and Project Management examines the processes and techniques typically employed to ensure the desired performance of teams organized to accomplish technical work leading to the delivery of engineered products and systems.
