MBA Alumni Advisory Board

By Laws

Membership

Members will serve a three-year term. No limit will be placed on the number of terms a member may serve. The Board will limit its membership to 60 persons. On an annual basis, the executive committee will review membership of those members who have not attended any meeting within the past year and those whose memberships are expiring. The committee will request that the Alumni Advisory Board delete members who do not participate in any of the Board's activities for an extended period of time. Periodically, nominations for vacant positions will be reviewed. The committee will propose a slate of new members to the full advisory board. Members of the Advisory Board are expected to serve on one of its committees. However, each committee is responsible for the selection of its chair. Members are expected to complete the following responsibilities to the MBA Alumni Advisory Board:

1. Attend at least two meetings annually

2. Actively participate on one committee

3. Participate in at least one of the following areas of support:

  • Network with staff and students
  • Contribute specific ideas to the board
  • Regularly provide monetary contributions to the programs

Officers

The Advisory Board will have two officers: President and Vice President. Elections will be held at the fall meeting, and both the President and Vice President will serve two-year terms. At each fall meeting, only a new vice president will be elected. The current vice president will become the president. The new officers will be installed at the end of the election meeting. Committees will select chairs at the fall meeting using procedures agreed to by members of the committees. Committee chair will serve for two years.

Meetings

The Advisory Board will meet four times per year. The spring meeting will be held in Blacksburg and the winter meetings will be held alternately in Northern Virginia and Richmond. The other two general meetings are held by conference call. Committees may meet as necessary according to their own calendars.
